After training as a chemical laboratory technician and subsequently working as a chemical laboratory technician at Hermann C. Starck KG in Goslar, Markus Römer completed further studies at the Social Academy in Dortmund in the field of human resources, social and business management. He has worked full-time for the German Mining, Chemical and Energy Industrial Union (IGBCE) since 1992, including as deputy head of the Leverkusen district and the Baden-Württemberg district. He also heads the education/science department and is active as head of the Hanover district. Markus Römer has experience as a member of supervisory boards in the pharmaceutical, glass and automotive supply industries.
